Metrolink Adds “Kids Ride Free” and “5-Day Flex Pass” to Regular Fare Offerings

Metrolink Adds “Kids Ride Free” and “5-Day Flex Pass” to Regular Fare Offerings

The Metrolink family is excited to officially announce the beloved Kids Ride Free and 5-Day Flex Pass options have been designated as regular Metrolink fare offerings.

Metrolink knows daily commutes and weekend getaways will continue to look different with the changing times ahead – and for this reason, the five-day flex pass and kids ride free offerings will continue to provide an ideal balance of affordable and enjoyable future rail trips.

To offer those who are telecommuting to work more and take the train less, the five-day flex pass is a fare perfect option. Riders who purchase a 5-Day Flex Pass can travel on the days they need to, wherever and whenever they want to, within 30 days of purchasing the pass and at a 10% discount.

Kids Can Be Expensive – But on Weekends, Metrolink Kids Travel for Free

Families who are looking for a fun, safe and affordable way to plan a weekend getaway can enjoy “Kids Ride Free Weekends,” on Metrolink – every weekend – with destinations to explore across Southern California from Ventura County to Northern San Diego and everywhere in-between.

For just $10 per adult, kids (ages 17 and under) ride free. No ticket is needed for the children, they simply board the train with their parents.

Since Southern California is brimming with all kinds of kid-friendly outdoor experiences that are accessible via Metrolink, it’s easy to take the train to each destination and eliminate the stress of travel that comes with traffic and parking. Just hop on and hop off.

Families can take the train to go for a hike, grab a bite to eat and support a local SoCal business, or plan a weekend bike ride adventure. In fact, every train has a designated bike car where riders can safely store their bikes, surfboards and fully loaded picnic baskets (or all the above!).

Both these pass options are available for purchase in advance exclusively on the Metrolink Mobile App for safe, contactless ticketing and automatically saved in a rider’s ticket wallet: simply activate one before boarding the train.

Visit metrolinktrains.com/kidsridefree for more details on the kids ride free offer, visit metrolinktrains.com/flexpass for more information on the 5-Day Flex Pass, and get ready to experience less gridlock on the next trip.

A Safe and Affordable Alternative to Traffic and Parking

Families can sit comfortably (and socially distanced!) on Metrolink’s spacious, clean and disinfected double-decker trains and enjoy the mountain, ocean and city scenery as they whiz by the traffic on their way to any destination.

As always, safety is foundational at Metrolink – so face masks are required on platforms and trains (except for children two years old and under). On-board amenities include face-to-face table seating (perfect for families traveling together), a restroom, and two hand sanitizer stations on each train car. Riders can help maintain physical distance by using the How Full Is My Train? tool which lets travelers check recent ridership levels before taking the train.

It’s going to be a SoCal Explorer spring and summer – whether it’s a flexible commute or a family staycation getaway – it’s easy to let Metrolink take care of the travel arrangements.
