When to use the Emergency Pull

Each Metrolink passenger car has an emergency brake valve (emergency pull) that should be used to stop the train in the event of an emergency.

In most scenarios, you should alert a conductor if there is an emergency and they will determine what is the best course of action to assist.

The handle should not be used for medical emergencies. Because this causes the train to stop, it may make stop in an area that is inaccessible to medial personnel and prevent them from providing proper assistance.

If you’re unsure of what to do in a situation, always find the conductor and let them know what is happening. Misuse of the handle will result in a fine or imprisonment.
