Metrolink Matters On December 6, 2014, the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center, more commonly known as ARTIC, had its grand opening ceremony, which replaced the former Anaheim Station in the Angel Stadium parking lot.
The 67,000 square foot iconic transportation hub transformed how Southern Californian’s travel by increasing mobility options for residents, local businesses, commuters and visitors to Anaheim, Orange County and the entire Southern California region.
On opening day, ARTIC services included Metrolink, Amtrak, OCTA bus, Anaheim Resort Transportation (ART), Megabus, Greyhound, shuttles, taxis, bikes and more. Amenities included unique dining establishments, transit-oriented retail, Wi-Fi and plug in stations, plenty of parking, bike racks and lockers. Many of these options are still available, with even more specialty services for travel to Arizona, Nevada and even Mexico.
In line with the City of Anaheim’s plans and vision to increase mobility options and create a cleaner environment, ARTIC is both a destination and a hub that enables people to move seamlessly between transit services to reach Southern California activity centers, business districts and beyond. Located near the 57, 5, 22 and 91 freeways, adjacent to the Santa Ana River Trail, and in between Honda Center and Angel Stadium of Anaheim, the innovative LEED-Platinum designed and operated facility will serve more than 20 million guests who visit Anaheim each year, including the 5.5 million sports fans and concert/entertainment attendees who visit the surrounding world-class venues annually.
