Los Angeles is celebrating Indigenous Peoples Day in Downtown today! Last year, the City voted to make a holiday recognizing that Native Americans were the first inhabitants of land that eventually became the United States.

Today, the city is celebrating with than inaugural celebration at City Hall and Grand Park.

This FREE event will feature a number of activities in Downtown’s Civic Center, including a 5K run, parade of nations, Native American powwow, panel sessions, a fashion show and live music at Grand Park – with a grand finale by Native American rock group Redbone.

The event runs from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., so there is plenty of time  to enjoy the festivities.

Simply take Metrolink to L.A. Union Station then transfer for free to the Metro Red or Purple line to the Civic Center/Grand Park Station.
